Demolition
The original house
site was plagued with a dilapidated doublewide trailer home. The awkward positioning
of the trailer home and its foundation deprived the inhabitants of sunshine
and prohibited them from enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The positioning
also prevented the building to benefit from solar gain, an important natural
heat source during the long Maine winters. The clients, who are also my
parents, removed the trailer home, but I suggested that the well-constructed
concrete fountain remain.
