Foundation

We began the dig in April. First, we dug the drainage then built mounds to reduce the depth of the concrete slab. Next, we built a perimeter from roughsawn pine boards and lined the lined the boards with 2" foam board, insulating the slab. I used meticulous care to be conservative the total amount of concrete that was poured, but still ensure the strength of the foundation. My design required scrupulous dirtwork, rammed earth mounds, creative form-work, and a generous amount of rebar (used to tie the slab to the deepened perimeter).
