Frame

The frame is a hemlock post and beam truss with columns that lean inward by 7 degrees. The truss was specifically designed to be raised by a small crew of builders. Each frame was constructed using a template and drilled with the use of pilot blocks in order to maintain hole center accuracy. The 4"x10"x24' beams are fasted to one another with thru-bolted 1/4" steel gusset plates. This structural fastening system supports the inward leaning walls. A construction lift was used to raise and position the frames 4 feet apart. At the bottom of each column, a 1/4" welded steel stirrup was bolted to the concrete slab with four 5/8"x3 1/2" Titan HD screws and torqued to 80 psi. The frame was erected in one week in July 2005.
