Slab and Floor

WerkHaus is built on an exposed concrete slab that is fitted with radiant hydronic tubing. The slab perimeter is reinforced with a concrete grade beam, which is tied to the monoslab with reinforcement rebar. This allows the floor to 'float' above a layer of crushed rock. The crushed rock acts as a duct system to draw fresh air into the sauna through a slatted floor made with hardwood decking. When the sauna occupants rinse themselves, the water flows through the slatted floor, through the crushed rock drainage system, and out of the building.
