Roof
Local spruce and hemlock were used to construct the roof and ceilings, providing an interior and exterior continuity of materials. Most American homes hide the structural elements, however, My Folks' Place is designed to promote appreciation of the building's infrastructure. The 'Trus Joist MacMillan' parallams are left uncovered and as a result, compliment the natural wood ceilings. The durable metal roof will prevent frequent, expensive re-roofings that tar shingles usually require.
